I do not know where this year has gone. January, February, March and April have all blown in like lions and gone out like lambs. We have had the privilege of handcrafting some beautiful jewellery for you, including birthstone pieces for christenings, birthdays and anniversaries alike; Garnet, Amethyst, Aquamarine and Diamond respectively. The birthstone for May is the very regal Emerald. If you are lucky enough to love this stone and your birthday falls in this month then I am very jealous. There is nothing more spectacular than a good colour Emerald with clear clarity. Emerald has been beloved for millennia, evoking rebirth and renewal. Widely regarded as the definition of green, Emerald is the perfect colour for spring. An Emerald of intense colour can command a very high price per carat. And the clearer the clarity the higher that price goes. We are, as always, eternally grateful to all our lovely clients for your continued support and business. It is only through you that we are lucky enough to have a fully functioning workshop in such a beautiful city. Thank you.
So far this year, we have created a bespoke 18ct Gold dress ring set with Green Diamonds and Orange Sapphires which was simply stunning; a beautiful Diamond set necklace in a swirl of golden curls; a Diamond set trilogy engagement ring; wedding rings; earrings….the list goes on. Look out for them featured on our social pages soon.
I am very lucky to be sitting in the sunshine in the garden as I write this on a very lovely Sunday taking in the warmth and watching the birds and insects – the whole garden coming to life in front of my eyes. I take a lot of inspiration for jewellery design from the beautiful things in nature that surround us. The shape of a bud, the colour of a flower, the movement of a bee. There are so many things around us that we take for granted and we never stop to take it all in. If you are having a piece of jewellery made especially for you and want to include elements that mean a lot to you, we can incorporate them into your design. For example, the engagement ring I have pictured with this blog has elements of the couples lives together and important things that mean the world to them. The shape of the setting here has been inspired by an African Flame Lily, the Emeralds flush set inside the band have been sourced from a mine in Sandawana, somewhere our beautiful couple spent time. So we can easily, and subtly, add these small elements and details to any design. Feel free to book a complimentary design consultation with me and we can discuss and create a truly unique piece for you.
Enjoy the weather, and bring on summer!
